How to get there

Sydney Airport to CBD

http://www.sydneyairport.com.au

Located in Mascot NSW, SydneyAirport is approximately 8km from the central CBD. SydneyAirport is easily accessible by all modes of transport including car, train, taxi or bus.

All terminals, T1 International, T2 Domestic and T3 Domestic, can be easily found by following signs to the airport - usually displayed by a simple aeroplane symbol. Most major routes will feature the symbol at decision points.

The State Transit Website – www.131500.com.au – has useful information regarding public transport options, including a trip planner function that will provide you with detailed information on how to get to any destination.

By Taxi

Each airport terminal has its own sheltered taxi rank with supervisors on hand in peak hours to ensure a smooth flow of taxis for travellers.

Drivers are required to accept all fares, big and small, from the airport. If you are only travelling a short distance, drivers can return back to their place in the queue after they have taken you to where you need to go. The kerbside management team will help you and your driver with this request. Please note that taxis are not permitted to pick up passengers outside of the taxi ranks and the driver will be fined AUD5,000 for breaking the regulation.

Taxi drivers can accept tips, but it is not normal practice to tip in Australia and therefore there is no requirement on the passenger to do so.

Please note: $2.00 airport toll is payable by all passengers taking a taxi from any of SydneyAirport's taxi ranks.

By train

There are rail stations located at both the International and Domestic Terminals. The Domestic rail station is located directly between T2 and T3 Terminals and is accessible from within the terminals from the arrivals level. The International rail station is located at the northern end of the terminal and is accessible from the arrivals level.

Travel to the City
Airport Link is a fast and convenient way to reach the centre of Sydney. Trains run approximately every 10 minutes and the journey into the city takes only 13 minutes. The international and domestic rail stations link directly to the City Circle which means most city destinations are within a short walk of stations.

Travel to the Suburbs
Tickets can be purchased to all Sydney stations from the International and Domestic rail stations. Simply catch the train from the International or Domestic stations to Central station and change for all suburban services.

Travel between Terminals
Passengers can also transfer between terminals for a cost of AU$4.50

For more information on fares, maps and travel planners visit the Airport Link website www.airportlink.com.au or phone +61 2 8337 8417.

There are many bus services that operate to and from SydneyAirport - most of which require pre-booking. See the options below to determine which service best suits your needs.

By bus

Sydney Buses has a timetables service between Bondi Junction and Burwood which includes the T1 International and T3 Domestic Terminals in the route. Clearly marked bus stops are located on the arrivals level of each of these terminals. Information about fares, timetables and connections to other parts of Sydney is available at www.sydneybuses.info

Sydney CBD to Charles Perkins Centre

The Sydney main campus is close to the city and harbour, where you’ll find a range of public transport options.

As bus, rail and ferry timetables and routes can change, we suggest you visit the Transport for NSW trip planner before you set out.

By train

Redfern is the closest train station. It is a 10-minute walk to the main campus, and a fairly steady flow of students walks the route via Abercrombie Street at all times of day and evening. A free shuttle bus runs between Fisher Library and Redfern Station in the evening during semester.

Central station is a 15-minute walk along City Road and George Street; however, buses to and from Central are frequent and easy to catch from Parramatta Road or City Road.

By bus

If you are arriving by bus, there are convenient stops on Parramatta Road and City Road at our main entrances. Use the campus map to locate the closest bus stop to your destination.

By car

Very limited parking available on campus, we encourage you to use public transport, walk or cycle in.

Charles Perkins Centre has a handy How to get there page for further information.
